Just days before she leaves town to finish her final year of college, we were able to catch up with Steamboat Local musician Adia Clark Lay about the evolution of her career from a young teenager playing at our downtown Farmers Markets to releasing her debut EP.
Adia Clark Lay is an emerging singer-songwriter known for her powerful indie folk sound, blending influences from country, pop, and beyond. Originally from the Chicago area, Adia moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, before eighth grade, where she quickly became a key figure in the local music scene. She began her musical journey early, taking choir and guitar lessons in second grade and playing gigs by seventh grade.
Adia is currently studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she focuses on songwriting and music business. Her debut EP, On the Rocks, which is being released on August 21, 2024, marks her official entry into the country music genre. The EP was recorded in Nashville with Grammy-nominated session musicians and reflects her deepening connection to country music, a genre she started exploring during the pandemic.
In addition to her EP, Adia has been actively involved in the production of her music videos, which were filmed around the Yampa Valley with the support of local businesses. These videos visually capture the essence of her hometown and her musical style.
Adia will be performing at The Press in Steamboat Springs on August 21, where she’ll share her new work with the community that has supported her from the beginning!
