“On The Rocks” – Adia Clark Lay
“On the Rocks” is a song from Adia Clark Lay’s debut EP of the same name, marking her entry into the country music genre. Adia, originally from outside Chicago, moved to Steamboat Springs before eighth grade, where she deepened her passion for music. The EP, recorded in Nashville with Grammy-nominated session players, reflects her transition to country music, influenced by artists like Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. The music video for “On the Rocks” was filmed locally in Steamboat, featuring iconic local businesses. We were able to discuss this EP with Adia during a recent Steamboat Sound Check podcast, before she left town to finish her final year at the Berklee School of Music.
“Until There’s Nothing Left” – LP Giobbi with Alabama Shakes
“Until There’s Nothing Left” is a dynamic collaboration between LP Giobbi and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes. Featured on LP Giobbi’s upcoming sophomore album Dotr, this track is a powerful fusion of electronic beats and soulful vocals. LP Giobbi was inspired to work with Howard after witnessing Alabama Shakes perform over a decade ago, making this collaboration a dream come true for her. The song features cascading arpeggios and a soaring chorus, with Howard’s vocals from the Alabama Shakes’ song “Don’t Wanna Fight” blending seamlessly into LP Giobbi’s signature electronic sound. The result is a track that feels like a spiritual experience on the dance floor, encapsulating both artists’ unique styles. Both Brittany Howard and LP Giobbi both have upcoming concerts at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, with Howard’s on October 8 and LP Giobbi’s on November 30.
“dopamine” – Trevor Hall

“Two Blue Chairs & You” – Zac Brown Band

The song paints a picture of a relaxed vacation scene with lyrics that evoke images of a serene beach, complete with an ocean view, flip-flops, and frozen drinks. It’s a perfect soundtrack for those longing for a getaway, blending Zac Brown Band’s warm, laid-back style with a sense of calm and escape. Similar to their breakout 2009 track “Toes”, this song adds to their collection of feel-good, coastal-themed music, inviting listeners to imagine themselves unwinding by the sea.

“Mint Tea” is a track from the album Passage Du Desir, a project released under the alias Johnny Blue Skies, which is the new persona adopted by Sturgill Simpson. This album marks a significant shift for Simpson, representing his desire for a fresh start and a departure from the expectations tied to his former identity. Smith described the song as exploring the struggle of watching someone (symbolically, his previous self) battling inner demons and the commitment to stand by them during their darkest times. Myles Smith will be playing a sold out show at the Marquis Theater in Denver on October 4, 2024, and already has a follow-up in Colorado scheduled at the Mission Ballroom for April 9 of next year.
