Steamboat Locals strives to be the place you learn about new music first! Whether it’s a new song from an artist you know, or an innovative sound from an artist you ought to know, Steamboat Locals is constantly updating our music selection each week. Here are some new songs added just this past week:
“Rushmere” – Mumford & Sons
“Rushmere” is the lead single from Mumford & Sons’ forthcoming album, RUSHMERE, scheduled for release on March 28, 2025. The song signifies a return to the band’s folk roots, featuring a prominent banjo line and anthemic peaks reminiscent of their earlier work. The album’s title is inspired by a pond located in Wimbledon Common, London, where the band first formed and conceived their music. This release also marks their first studio recording as a trio, following the departure of guitarist and banjoist Winston Marshall in 2021.
“Easy” – Mihali with G. Love and Brett Dennen
Mihali’s latest single, “Easy,” released last week, is a mellow reggae gem that blends his laid-back vibe with G. Love’s groove and Brett Dennen’s warm, breezy vocals. The track exudes feel-good simplicity, wrapped in smooth melodies and acoustic charm, making it perfect for relaxed afternoons. This collaboration strikes the perfect balance between chill and soulful, offering a laid-back tune that’s effortlessly timeless. Both G. Love and Brett Dennen were guests on our Steamboat Sound Check podcast in 2024.
“Yellow Jacket” – Dispatch
“Yellow Jacket” is the latest release from the indie band Dispatch, offering a nostalgic journey back to their farm upbringing. The song blends vivid imagery—like roller skates, broken glass, and stitches—with the band’s signature sound, creating a lively and engaging track. Fans have praised the song’s catchy horns and upbeat rhythm, noting its resemblance to the band’s earlier work.
“Indigo” – Sam Barber with Avery Anna
“Indigo,” a collaboration between Sam Barber and Avery Anna, is a poignant track from Barber’s debut album, Restless Mind, released on November 1, 2024. The song delves into themes of regret and self-reflection, with Barber expressing how he once “shined bright like gold” but now feels “all indigo,” symbolizing a shift from optimism to melancholy. Avery Anna’s contribution adds depth to the narrative, portraying the complex emotions following a breakup.
