In this episode of Common Folk in the Boat, presented by Billo Premium Cannabis, we sit down with Stephany Traylor, the passionate founder and owner of Dusky Grouse Coffee in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Stephany’s journey from Seattle, Washington, to becoming a central figure in Steamboat’s community is both inspiring and heartwarming.
After spending time in Park City, Utah, Stephany relocated to Steamboat Springs with her now-husband, Glen. Together, they started the Steamboat location of the Ski Butlers franchise, a ski rental and delivery service that has grown to serve numerous ski resorts. Stephany then channeled her Seattle upbringing and passion for coffee into establishing Dusky Grouse Coffee. Her vision was to create more than just a coffee shop; she aimed to foster a welcoming space that promotes mental well-being and community connection—a mission that became even more significant in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beyond her entrepreneurial endeavors, Stephany is deeply involved in the local community. She has organized events like “Steamboat Little Givers”, an ongoing kids community project with a goal of encouraging our youngest citizens to understand what if means to give and to be a part of a community.
In our conversation, Stephany shares her personal history, her profound love for music and coffee, and the importance of community engagement. Her story is a testament to the power of creating spaces that not only serve great coffee but also nurture connections and support mental health.
Tune in to hear how Stephany’s passions intertwine and how Dusky Grouse Coffee has become a cherished hub in Steamboat Springs.
