Behind the Badge

The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) is launching Behind the Badge, a series of informational sessions with members of the department, in an effort to get to know the individuals behind the badge and share information on community topics.

“Steamboat Springs is relatively a small community and it’s important to know the men and women who serve it and the issues they are dealing with on a daily basis,” said Chief Mark Beckett. “Behind the Badge looks to share those stories, engage in open conversations and strengthen the connection between the community and department.”

The inaugural Behind the Badge session will share Real Talk with School Resource Officers (SROs) on Thursday, April 10, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Join local SROs for a candid and meaningful conversation with a question & answer session about juvenile tendencies observed locally and national trends being seen in schools.

If you have a student, this is your opportunity to meet the people behind the badge and engage in an open conversation about the role SROs play in keeping schools safe. Creating a safe and positive learning environment is a team effort between SROs and parents, and they want to hear from you.
