Gala Mixes Native Plants Across Highest Peaks With Cuisine, Wine & Entertainment
Savor the sweet aroma of native plant collections while enjoying creative culinary plates and unique wines from around the world during the Passport Through the Botanic Park on Saturday, July 19.
“As we all know, a centerpiece is an important element to any event, but when your centerpiece is a renowned botanic park, the event is always something spectacular,” commented Executive Director Jennifer MacNeil. “Passport Through the Botanic Park has grown due to strong community support and we’re excited for this year event which transports us to seven summits across the seven continents.”
Passport to the Seven Summits is this year’s theme highlighting plants in the Botanic Park’s collection that are native to high elevations on continents around the globe. Climb with us to Mount Everest (Asia), Aconcagua (South America), Mount Kosciuszko (Australia), Mount Elbrus and Mont Blanc (Europe), Mount Vinson (Antarctica), Kilimanjaro (Africa), and Denali (North America).
Passport Through the Botanic Park, presented by Mountain Valley Bank, invites guests to journey through the gardens exploring the plant collections that are native to Colorado and similar environments worldwide capped with musical entertainment throughout the evening. Stations are set throughout the gardens that pair learning opportunities with global cuisine and wine. La Central and Nomadic Table have cooked up a culinary journey around the world.
Passports, your ticket to adventure, will go on sale starting, Monday June 9. The July 19 event runs from 4:30 pm to 7pm. In addition, an online auction will be hosted from July 11 – 21 featuring art, adventure, home and garden goods, and more donated by local businesses.
Once a sprawling horse pasture, the six-acre Yampa River Botanic Park is now home to more than 60 unique gardens, thousands of plant species, animals, and hosts special events of all shapes and sizes.
