“Give It Time” – Goose
Goose’s latest single, “Give It Time,” serves as a poignant anthem of patience and self-discovery. Initially conceived years ago, the song found its true form during rehearsals with the band’s reconfigured lineup in 2024, marking drummer Cotter Ellis’s integration into the group. Guitarist Rick Mitarotonda reflected on this evolution, noting that the song “showed itself to us at just the right moment,” embodying themes of doubt, excitement, and the potential inherent in new beginnings. Lyrically, “Give It Time” delves into the internal dialogue of someone grappling with existential questions, encouraging perseverance and wholehearted commitment to one’s pursuits. The track begins as a gentle ballad, gradually building into an expansive, jam-infused composition that mirrors the band’s dynamic live performances. This progression not only showcases Goose’s musical versatility but also reinforces the song’s message of growth and unfolding potential. ”Give It Time” is a standout piece from Goose’s forthcoming album, “Everything Must Go,” set for release on April 25, 2025. As the band tours in support of this album, with a two-night stint at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheater on June 6-7, it appears they will be doing so as a quartet with the recently announced departure of percussionist Jeff Arevalo.
“Ultraviolet” – Clover County
Clover County’s single “Ultraviolet” is a captivating blend of 60s-inspired melodies and introspective lyricism, exploring the complexities of supporting a partner through mental health challenges while grappling with one’s own struggles. The track juxtaposes upbeat instrumentals with melancholic themes, creating a unique sound that is both cheerful and introspective. This contrast enhances the song’s emotional depth, offering listeners a rich and textured musical experience. ”Ultraviolet” is featured on Clover County’s debut EP, “Porch Lights,” released on November 15, 2024. The EP reflects her vintage sound and heartfelt songwriting, drawing inspiration from musical icons such as Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, and Carole King. “After Me?” – Kashus Culpepper
Kashus Culpepper’s debut single, “After Me?,” released in June 2024, delves into the poignant emotions of witnessing a former lover move on to someone new. This narrative resonates with listeners through its raw portrayal of heartbreak and self-reflection. Culpepper’s journey to this release is as compelling as the song itself. A Navy veteran from Alabama, he began his musical exploration during deployment in Rota, Spain, in 2020, teaching himself guitar and performing covers. Upon returning to the U.S., he played in dive bars across the South, gradually building a dedicated following. His authentic storytelling and distinctive, husky vocals eventually led to a record deal with Big Loud Records. ”After Me?” not only highlights Culpepper’s ability to convey profound emotion through his music but also sets the stage for his future projects, reflecting his depth as a songwriter and performer. Kashus Culpepper will be playing at Denver’s Globe Hall on May 24, and the following night in Vail with Leon Bridges.

The Black Keys have unveiled “Babygirl,” the second single from their forthcoming 13th studio album, No Rain, No Flowers. Co-written with Grammy-winning songwriter Daniel Tashian and renowned producer Scott Storch, the track infuses the band’s signature blues-rock style with vibrant, funky rhythms. Following the earlier release of “The Night Before,” “Babygirl” offers a glimpse into the band’s evolving musical direction. The collaboration with Tashian and Storch introduces fresh elements to their sound, blending euphoric melodies with groove-laden instrumentation. No Rain, No Flowers is slated for release later this year via Easy Eye Sound/Warner Records. The Black Keys are also preparing for an extensive tour in support of the album, aiming to reconnect with fans and showcase their latest work. As part of this tour, they will be playing the Ford Amphitheater in Colorado Springs on May 25, and Red Rocks on May 27.
“Horses” – Jesse Welles
Jesse Welles’ song “Horses” serves as the opening track on his third album, Middle, released in February 2025. The song intertwines personal reflections with broader societal commentary, employing the metaphor of “horses” to explore themes of love, hate, and economic disparities. Welles’ lyrics subtly reference global economic issues, such as outsourcing and foreign policy, while ultimately emphasizing a pro-love stance over hatred. Musically, “Horses” features swirling electric guitars and fiddle arrangements, reflecting Welles’ folk-rock influences and drawing comparisons to artists like Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. The track sets the tone for the album’s exploration of internal and external conflicts, blending personal narratives with abstract and surreal imagery. His growing popularity underscores his role as a voice for the disaffected, resonating with fans across generations who are seeking meaningful commentary in music. In support of the album, Welles has embarked on a tour, and will be captivating Colorado audiences with his socially conscious lyrics and authentic performances in Denver April 4, Fort Collins April 5 and Boulder April 6.
“Backseat Banton” – Bartees Strange

Lyrically, “Backseat Banton” delves into themes of desire and the transition from passive to active roles in relationships, encapsulated in the opening line: “I’m a backseat lover, now I want to drive.” Horror serves as a meditation on complex anxieties and interior hauntings, with Strange exploring themes of loneliness, isolation, and the quest for belonging. The album builds upon the genre-defying persona established in his previous works, blending soul, rap-rock, and retro sounds to convey his experiences and fears. Bartees Strange will be at Meow Wolf in Denver on May 18.
“Starry Eyed” – Good Neighbours
Good Neighbours’ latest single, “Starry Eyed,” was written during their stay in Los Angeles in January 2025. The track captures the exhilarating vulnerability of experiencing love at first sight, a theme the duo aimed to encapsulate in the song’s spontaneous creation. The duo, consisting of Scott Verrill and Oli Fox, initially introduced “Starry Eyed” during their North American tour with Foster The People. The live performances garnered enthusiastic responses, prompting fans to request its official release. This positive reception led to the decision to share the track more broadly, aligning with the energy and spontaneity of its inception. ”Starry Eyed” follows their previous single, “Ripple,” and their platinum-certified debut, “Home,” which achieved over 500 million global streams and charted in multiple countries. The duo is currently finalizing their debut album, aiming for a release by the end of the year.
“Headlock” – Imogen Heap
Ironically, this is not truly a “Fresh Tune.” Imogen Heap’s “Headlock,” the opening track from her 2005 album Speak for Yourself, has recently experienced a resurgence in popularity. Originally released as the album’s third single in 2006, the song showcases Heap’s distinctive blend of electropop and intricate vocal layering. In late 2024, “Headlock” found renewed attention on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, where users began associating the song with video edits of the psychological horror video game Mouthwashing. This unexpected pairing led to a viral trend, propelling “Headlock” back into the charts. By January 2025, the track debuted at number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Heap’s first entry on this chart.
