As the summer sun shines brightly over the Yampa Valley, Steamboat Springs comes alive with a host of vibrant events and activities this weekend. Among these, the Kitchen and Garden Tour hosted by the Strings Guild stands out as a must-attend for locals seeking a delightful and meaningful way to spend their weekend. Slated for Saturday, the tour not only offers a feast for the eyes and a treasure trove of inspiration for home and garden enthusiasts but also plays a crucial role in supporting the Strings Music Festival’s free music education and community programs.
The Kitchen and Garden Tour invites attendees to step into some of Steamboat’s most beautiful homes and gardens. This exclusive peek offers a chance to see innovative kitchen designs, lush gardens, and unique landscaping ideas that can inspire your own home projects. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener, a home improvement enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of well-crafted spaces, this tour promises to leave you brimming with ideas and admiration.
Stephani Bunting was a long-time visitor to Steamboat prior to moving to the area a few years ago. She had always had an appreciation for this event from a tourist’s perspective, but now as the Kitchen & Garden Tour Chairman and a local resident, she has a new outlook on the ways locals can benefit from the tour.
“The Kitchen & Garden tour provides for a community-wide opportunity to explore homes and gardens in the Steamboat area. Anyone with a thought of potential new construction or remodeling can tour private homes, creative kitchens, and magnificent gardens. It is truly a happy joyful event and makes me very proud to be a part of Steamboat.” says Bunting
One of the most compelling reasons to join the Kitchen and Garden Tour is its philanthropic mission. A full 100% of the proceeds from the tour go directly to supporting the Strings Music Festival’s free music education and community programs. These programs are vital for fostering a love of music in the community, providing access to high-quality musical education for children and adults alike, and enriching the cultural fabric of Steamboat Springs. Bunting expresses “As if enjoying a Steamboat summer day isn’t enough, all profits from the tour go to Strings Music Festival to fund free educational and community programs. The Guild of Strings Music Festival exists solely to support Strings and the Kitchen & Garden tour is the guild’s major fundraiser.”
By participating in the tour, you’re not only treating yourself to a day of aesthetic pleasure but also contributing to a cause that brings joy and learning to many. If you’ve ever been to Music on the Green, had a child take a school field trip to see a Strings performer, or enjoyed a yoga session hosted in the Strings Festival Park, you’ve benefited first-hand from the work of the Strings Guild.
The Kitchen and Garden Tour is just one highlight of a bustling weekend in Steamboat Springs. The same weekend also features the much-anticipated Art in the Park event, organized by Steamboat Creates. Held at the scenic West Lincoln Park, this event showcases a diverse array of arts and crafts from local and regional artists, along with live entertainment, food vendors, and interactive activities for all ages. The synergy between these events creates a weekend brimming with culture, creativity, and community spirit.
For Steamboat locals, the Kitchen and Garden Tour and Art in the Park offer the perfect blend of relaxation, inspiration, and community engagement. “Locals that I have spoken to enjoy seeing areas in Steamboat that they haven’t noticed or visited. Also, local musical and visual artists are located at each home to experience local talent. And, to add to the experience of a beautiful Yampa Valley day, many of our participants ride bicycles from home to home.” explains Bunting.
Spend your Saturday exploring stunning kitchens and gardens, then head over to Art in the Park on Sunday to immerse yourself in the local arts scene. Both events provide opportunities to connect with neighbors, support local initiatives, and enjoy the unique charm of Steamboat Springs.
The Kitchen and Garden Tour is more than just an event; it’s an experience that enriches both the individual and the community. By attending, you’re helping to ensure that the Strings Music Festival can continue to offer its invaluable free music education and community programs. Coupled with the vibrant Art in the Park, this weekend promises to be a visual and cultural feast. So, mark your calendars, invite your friends, and get ready to enjoy a weekend that celebrates the beauty and creativity of Steamboat Springs.
